Congressional Black Caucus Commends President Biden’s Memorial Designation to Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley

Today, Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Steven Horsford (NV-04) and members of the Congressional Black Caucus issued the following statement commending President Biden and Vice President Harris for designating a memorial to Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley:

“Today, Emmett Till should be 82 years old. The Congressional Black Caucusoffers our sincerest sympathies to Rev. Wheeler Parker Jr. and the entire Till family for all they have endured over the years. Their work to keep the story of Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley in the conscience of America reminds all of us of the horrors that unfortunately still exist in our country and pushes us to be better.

“The Congressional Black Caucus commends President Biden and Vice President Harris for designating a national monument to recognize Emmett Till and his mother Mamie Till-Mobley who served as catalysts for the civil rights movement. President Biden’s proclamation sends a clear message that our Party will not stand by and allow Black history to be erased and that we will not be silenced despite efforts to ban books and distort Black history.”
