Congressional Black Caucus Commends Jay-Z and Robert Kraft’s Books Unbanned Initiative

Today, Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Steven Horsford (NV-04) and members of the Congressional Black Caucus issued the following statement applauding the Shawn Carter Foundation and the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism for launching the Books Unbanned initiative:

“The Congressional Black Caucus applauds JAY-Z’s The Shawn Carter Foundation and Robert Kraft’s Foundation to Combat Antisemitism for their joint effort to provide free access to books for young people and combat the nationwide spread of book bans. The Books Unbanned initiative and the partnership between the Shawn Carter Foundation and the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism set an example for how our partners in the philanthropic community can work together to financially support communities in need and root out hate — particularly at a time when anti-Black racism and antisemitism are on the rise in our country.

“The CBC was honored to observe ‘The Book of HOV’ exhibit honoring Jay-Z’s life, legacy, and career at the Brooklyn Public Library and we commend Mr. Carter for his commitment to supporting the preservation of Black history and culture.”
